Aliens
Bugs
A rapidly reproducing, all consuming race of vaguely insectoid looking aliens. There are dozens of different subspecies that vary wildly in size, intelligence, purpose and lethality.
Swarms live in hives. An entrenched hive is a bitch to remove, but an unchecked one can overrun a planet. A hive is headed by a Queen. A series of hives/queens, spread across the planet or solar system, are often led by an Empress. It is unknown if there is an even higher authority command Empresses.
Intel from Coalition command points towards these creatures being genetically engineered at some point, but who did so or why remains an mystery.
Bots
Fully sentient beings who can transfer their intelligence between different machine bodies. Some speculate they supplanted the species that originally created them. Intelligence from SEI indicates they are led by a powerful AI, revered as a god among the Bot rank and file. Their objectives on Sparga remain unknown.
Psi-Hi
Advanced, psionically-powerful beings. Humanoid, about 7’ tall. They have a small presence on Sparga, and avoid direct conflict.
The Psi-Hi are a fractured species, without any central command, instead living in a sort of Clan system. While some Clans are vocal in their hatred of humans, others have proven valuable allies. One Psi-Hi clan even taught humanity the arts of Psionics. Several other clans later exterminated them for that sacrilege.
Hameni
Spargan natives. Approximately 3’ tall humanoid with gray, leathery skin. Tolerated within most human settlements, but often treated as inferior.
Surprisingly bright, if educated. Likely would have been a major player in the galaxy, if their planet hadn't been discovered (rediscovered?) and dominated by more advance species.
Precursors
In their time, the Precursors had mastered the galaxy. They are now believed to be extinct. It is unknown what happened to them. The Psi-Hi, an ancient race in their own right, claim that the Precursors disintegrated into a genocidal civil war.
Left behind Precursor Technology is scattered throughout the galaxy, but extremely rare. They are essentially magic to those who stumble upon them. They simply do not fit anyone’s understanding of the fundamental laws of science.
An artifact unique to Sparga are the Precursor Sentinels. This satellite constellation destroys anything traveling faster than 300mph and have a payload capable of mass destruction. The line between regular and mass destruction is being researched. It’s unknown why the Precursors built this “shield” around Sparga.
