Gateway City
Gateway City is a twin city; one planet side, the other in orbit. They’re separated by a space elevator. Gateway city is led by a council of corporation representatives.
The Space Elevator is by far the most important single aspect of gateway city. It offers incredibly cheap orbital access for Sparga’s humans. It takes about 12 hours for a one way trip. The elevator “car” is the size of a ten story building. Usually it’s about 25% full.
Planet Side Districts
Beggar’s Row: A majority of the planet side city. Dominated by refugees and poverty. A site of heavy protest, this district is under martial law and checkpoints are abundant.
Tomb Town: Once a portion of Beggar's row, a mysterious, slow acting dirty bomb killed about 60% of this district's population, while another 15% suffered mutations.
The Arena: The primary entertainment export of Gateway city, blood sports, are held here. This area is also overflowing with all sorts of “vice dens”.
Low Port: The terrestrial side of the space elevator starts here (and terminates at the orbital districts). It also is home to the traditional chip docs that act as arteries to many of the other fortress cities. Armored Trucks and their escorts constantly move in and out. One of the few melting pots left on the planet… also a smuggler’s paradise.
Orbital Districts
Crown Village: Business hub and city hall for Gateway city. It has high end housing and luxury shops. Access requires a permit.
High Port: The space port of Gateway city. Ships bring in raw materials from throughout the solar system and carry away planet-side manufactured goods and food. Ship building yards and Bioroid vats are also housed here.
The Flotsam: Not so much a single district as the collection of privately owned space stations that orbit nearby to to top of the Space Elevator. Shuttles run between high port and the publicly accessible stations. They range in size from that of a small house to a sky scraper, and vary in purpose from HQs of corporations, to Casinos, to private residences.
Daedalus Station: Is a station built and administered by McClane Heavy Industries (MHI), but owned by several other organizations who value privacy. The Troopers (Revenant Platoon), own a substantial portion.
